I came across Harlem Restaurant by reading a restaurant review on the Metro newspaper. Aside from the positive review on the food that it serves, what caught my interest was that it also has live jazz performances. So me and a friend decided to make a visit on a Friday night to check it out.
It was a very cold night out. When we got out of the taxi at the intersection of Richmond St. and Church St., we thought it was located at one of the buildings at the corners. We walked around looking for the restaurant, not knowing we walked the opposite way. After 10 minutes or so of searching, we finally found the restaurant, and we proceed to head upstairs to the bar.
The place is packed, partly due to a birthday party of 10+ people. We somehow ended up getting a pretty good table, right in front of the stage. The performer of the night was Duane Forrest and he and his buddy was amazing! He was singing and playing his guitar while his buddy was playing the bass guitar. The atmosphere was very relaxing and everyone is enjoying themselves. We ended up staying until the end of the performance around 11pm…what a night! I’ll be sure to visit again soon!
