Like a puzzle, things seems to be coming together nicely. With the new 10 day recission period over, my purchase is now firm. I feel a sense of accomplishment and pride, because a property is the biggest purchase most of us will ever make.
The next step is to get a mortgage approval to prove to the builder that I am able to afford the unit. Since I am getting a special rate offered by the builder, I need to get a mortgage from their designated mortgage specialist. But the sales representative told me that they haven’t recieve the details from the bank yet, so they will give me a call when they have the information ready. Meanwhile, she said I can get a mortgage from anywhere, and bring her the mortgage approval letter to finalize the deal.
The mortgage experience can be written into a whole new post, so I’ll just fast forward to the point where the mortgage approval is completed.
The occupancy quoted to me was on December of 2009, so there is still quite a bit of time. Since most of the work is now completed, there is not much to do other than to wait. So I spend most of my free time thinking about what the view will be at my unit, and if I will be high enough to see the lake and the boats docked at the marina.
I started to browse online, to see if i can find photos with similar views as my unit, but most of the photos are taken from the high floors of the tower section. The WHC website does a poor job at advertising the view, as there are only limited number of pictures available.
I began to turn to Google Earth, as their 3D renderings are quite impressive. Since their building models are not that up to date, only the tower portion, and part of the connecting section to the podium are shown on Google Earth. After playing around with it for awhile, I came up with this shot that showcase my potential view from the living room window.

The worst part of Google Earth is that it doesn’t model the trees (height of the trees can be a factor), so the problem of whether or not I’ll be able to see the lake still lingers in my mind. But alas, I now have a better understanding of the view I’ll be getting.
Months passes by, and I received a letter from Plazacorp stating my firm occupancy date, and it is scheduled to be on March 22, 2010. This is a 3 months delay from the initial quoted date, but it could not have been scheduled better. The reason is that the new occupancy date is just a week shy from my birthday, so it will be the perfect present to myself!
Just last weekend, I decided to head over to the Sales Centre and grab a copy of the my unit’s floorplan, because for some reason I don’t have one. I also wanted to see if I can get a chance to go up to see my unit, as the exterior of the podium has been completed, so it is not a hazardous construction site anymore. To my surprise, one of the working staff there was happy to take me up! I have been waiting for over 5 months for this opportunity, so it was a really exciting time for me. I love to take pictures of my unit before it is completed, since I will never be able to do it afterwards, and I’m so glad I got the chance to do it.
Here are the pictures that I took with my phone:

And that brings an end to my purchase experience at West Harbour City. I hope everyone that purchased there will enjoy the same excitment as I do!
